15th July 2018
As Edinburgh’s largest male voice A cappella Chorus we competed this year at the National Championships hosted by the British Association of Barbershop Singers at The International Convention Centre in Harrogate.
Our preparation included our weekly rehearsals, a weekend Retreat at Lundin Links and some final fine tuning by American Guest Coach and Gold Medallist Joe ‘Awesome’ Connelly.
The result was that we improved our points in all sections including Music, Performance and Harmony and rose to 14th Place out of 48 current Choruses across the UK. Needless to say the Chorus Members, families and friends were absolutely delighted.
We are attending the Scottish Regional Event in Perth on Saturday the 1st September. This is an open coaching day at which seven Scottish Choruses will take part and hopefully more Choruses and individuals will join us.
On Saturday 20th October we are presenting a Concert in aid of St Columba’s Hospice, Edinburgh. Performing with us will be the Gilmerton Choir, under the direction of their new Chorus Director Moira Morrison and the Forth Valley Chorus who are this year’s UK Gold Medallists for the second year in succession and who will be representing the UK in the International Sweet Adeline’s Championships in St Louis, in the USA under the direction of David Sangster. Should be a wonderful night for a wonderful local cause. Hope to see you there.
And then there’s Christmas and the Edinburgh Fringe next year!
